Executive Vice President, Chief Credit Officer — FirstBank Southwest

Stella Maddox serves as Executive Vice President and Chief Credit Officer at FirstBank Southwest, a $1.8B bank with lending operations across the state of Texas. Ms. Maddox has nearly 20 years of experience in commercial banking, focused on credit risk management. 

In her role as Chief Credit Officer, Maddox is responsible for portfolio credit quality; credit policy and approval processes; loan operations; special assets; oversight of CECL, including ongoing model maintenance and ACL calculation; and the Bank’s loan portfolio stress-testing program. She serves as chair of the senior loan committee and as a voting member of the risk management committee and directors’ loan committee. 

Maddox is a graduate of the Stonier Graduate School of Banking and the recipient of both the inaugural Glass-Breakers: Outstanding Women in Finance Award, and the Texas Bankers Association Emerging Leaders Award. In her spare time, Ms. Maddox enjoys spoiling her three dogs, hiking in Palo Duro Canyon, and spending time with friends and family.
